October 20: The view from Oxford Circus
It
has to be said today went well. An anarchist contingent several hundred
strong gathered at Harmsworth for the big march into central London,
with more red and black flags than ever and plans to totally ignore Hyde
Park's selection of crusty bureaucrats telling us that we (ie. they)
are "being heard" to ask nicely for slightly less austerity, please? Oh
go on, pretty please?
Despite a large escort of police and a helicopter assigned specially for us (we had a chopper above us from about 11am to 5pm) we weren't deemed a major target for the most part, and made it to Trafalgar Square with little incident and a lot of happy folks taking papers, leaflets etc. At the square we made a sudden breakaway to head up and join Boycott Workfare as part of our ongoing campaign to bring down a piece of legislation which sees companies and charities using free labour from the unemployed to undercut low-paid workers' conditions.

pubblico che da anni rimborsa all'ospedale San Raffaele si faccia
garante di una proposta di acquisizione pubblica, anche in
considerazione delle attuali condizioni di lavoro dei dipendenti di
questo ospedale.
10 godina ASI: nije vreme za slavlje, nego za borbu
Na današnji dan pre deset godina, 19. oktobra 2002, u Beogradu je održan
osnivački kongres Anarhosindikalističke inicijative (ASI).
U prethodnih deset godina ASI je intenzivno davala doprinos organizovanju revolucionarnog slobodarskog radničkog pokreta. Osim direktnog učestvovanja u radničkim i studentskim štrajkovima i protestima, redovno izdajemo nedeljni bilten „Direktna akcija“ i održavamo aktivnu izdavačku delatnost. Naše istraživačko-izdavačko telo – Centar za liberterske studije (CLS) ove, kao i osam prethodnih godina, učestvuje na Sajmu knjiga u Beogadu sa namerom da narodu učinimo pristupačnim teoriju i istoriju radničkog pokreta, kao i da se suprotstavimo komercijalizaciji kulture, i podstaknemo širenje i jačanje progresivne misli i radikalne društvene kritike.
U prethodnih deset godina ASI je intenzivno davala doprinos organizovanju revolucionarnog slobodarskog radničkog pokreta. Osim direktnog učestvovanja u radničkim i studentskim štrajkovima i protestima, redovno izdajemo nedeljni bilten „Direktna akcija“ i održavamo aktivnu izdavačku delatnost. 10 years of ASI: it's not a time for celebration, but for struggle
On this day, ten years ago, on October 19th 2002, the founding
Congress of the Anarcho-Syndicalist Initiative was held in Belgrade.
In previous ten years ASI has intensively supported the organizing of revolutionary libertarian workers' movement. Apart from direct participation in workers' and student strikes and protests, we are regularly publishing our weekly bulletin “Direktna akcija” (Direct Action) and sustain active publishing activities. This year, as it has for the past eight years, our publishing-research body — Center for Libertarian Studies (CLS) will be participating in The Belgrade Bookfare with the intention to make the theory and history of the workers' movement accessible to people, as well as to confront commercialization of culture, and support spreading and strengthening of progressive thought and radical social critique.
In previous ten years ASI has intensively supported the organizing of revolutionary libertarian workers' movement. 10 años de ASI: no es momento de celebraciones, sino de lucha
Este día de hace diez años, el 19 de octubre de 2002, se celebró en
Belgrado el Congreso Fundacional de la Iniciativa Anarco-Sindicalista
(ASI).
En los últimos diez años, la ASI ha apoyado intensivamente la organización del movimiento de los trabajadores libertarios revolucionarios. Aparte de la participación directa en huelgas y protestas obreras y estudiantiles, estamos publicando regularmente nuestro boletín semanal “Acción Directa” y mantenemos activamente las actividades editoriales. Este año, como durante los últimos ocho años, nuestro órganos de investigación y publicación –el Centro de Estudios Libertarios (CLS) participará en la Feria del Libro de Belgrado, con la intención de hacer accesible al público las teorías y la historia del movimiento obrero, así como para confrontar la comercialización de la cultura y apoyar la difusión y el fortalecimiento del pensamiento progresista y la crítica social radical.
En los últimos diez años, la ASI ha apoyado intensivamente la organización del movimiento de los trabajadores libertarios revolucionarios. Aparte de la participación directa en huelgas y protestas obreras y estudiantiles, estamos publicando regularmente nuestro boletín semanal “Acción Directa” y mantenemos activamente las actividades editoriales.
